Repository installation guide
This guide contains everything you need to know about Kodi addons and Kodi repositories. If you need help, post your question in the comment section at the bottom of the article and we’ll point you in the right direction.What are repositories?
Repositories allow quick access to addons. They essentially allow you to download an addon easily, while simultaneously providing you with automatic updates to keep them operational. If you download an addon without also installing the repository that goes with it, you’ll miss out when the developer pushes out updates. Because most addons pull their streams from websites that go offline frequently, it’s important to keep your addons up to date so that the list of sources can be refreshed.4 Kodi terms you should know
Just in case you are new to the Kodi community, here’s a quick glossary of some Kodi terminology that you’ll run across in this article and elsewhere on the web.Addon
An addon is an extension for Kodi that adds new features or functionality. Because Kodi is open source, anyone can create and release new addons. A large number of addons can be found in the official Kodi repository, while an even greater number can be found in unofficial repositories like the ones we’ll discuss later in this article. These third party addons are created by independent developers, and usually focus on delivering streams for movies, TV shows, and live sports to the end user (you).Developer
There are two types of Kodi developers: official Kodi developers and 3rd party Kodi developers. The official Kodi development team maintains the base Kodi software platform. The independent coders that release addons, builds, wizards and other Kodi extensions are called 3rd party Kodi developers.Repository
A repository is a container that stores addon files and keeps them up to date. If you download a standalone addon, you’ll be able to use the software but you won’t be able to get the updates. Using a repository, on the other hand, will allow you to enjoy your addons with the added benefit of automatically receiving updates for all your addons.Build
A Kodi build is a fully customized version of the Kodi software. Builds come with pre-installed addons and repositories. Kodi builds also have unique wallpapers, widgets and menu bars. The best builds are streamlined and up-to-date, but many are slow and contain lots of old addons and dead links.How to install a Kodi repo
There are two ways to install a Kodi repo. One of the best ways is to use your web browser to find the source files and then download the installation files to your hard drive. The other way is to use Kodi to download the file instead.If you use a PC or laptop to run Kodi, the first way is the best way. But if you use a Kodi box to run Kodi, you’ll have to use the second approach.
If you have a laptop/desktop PC
Please note that these are generic installation instructions. Specific instructions for each repository will follow further down the article.Open up your web browser and Google the name of the repo that you want to install. Find the download link for the repo, and download the zip to your hard drive. I personally prefer to download to my desktop, but you can choose any folder you want.
Once you have the repo zip file, navigate to install from zip from within Kodi to finish the installation.
If you have a Kodi box
Here’s how to install a Kodi repository if you use an android TV box to watch Kodi streams.First, set up a file source in Kodi’s file manager by going to system → file manager → add source.
Here’s what your screen should look like when you reach the add source screen if you’re using the latest version of Kodi (Kodi Krypton).
After you’ve set up the file source, it will appear when you open up file manager. Just click the file source and choose the addon you want to install.
Working Kodi repositories (Last update: June 23, 2017)
Many repositories went offline this month, but the repositories listed below don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.Working repo #1: Ares Repository
The Ares Repository is operated by the Ares Project community. The Ares Project makes excellent builds and their Ares Wizard program is also quite good.The popular video addon Exodus stopped working after TVAddons went down. However, you can now download the standalone version of Exodus directly from Ares Wizard.
Only time will tell if the Exodus development team will make the Ares Project repo a permanent home, but for now you can use the Ares Wizard to get the last version of Exodus that came out before the TVAddons crackdown.

An excellent place to go for builds
Once you’ve got Ares Wizard and the Ares Project repository, you can try out Apollo. Apollo is absolutely colossal build. That can be a good thing if you’re on a laptop or desktop. But if you’re using a Kodi box, a smartphone or Raspberry Pi you may want to go with a build that’s a little lighter.If you want a slick looking Kodi experience without the hassle of having to sort through a ton of different addons, get Cellar Door instead. Cellar Door is currently our #1 favorite build. And because its developers are always pushing out patches, it is nearly always up-to-date.

What to do if you get a “missing dependencies” error
We had no problems installing Kodi addons via the Ares Wizard. However, after attempting to install various addons via the Ares Project repository, we started running into “missing dependencies” installation errors. But after we used Ares Wizard to run “Fresh Start,” everything worked like a charm.
You can find Fresh Start by clicking the “more” tab while in Ares Wizard.
MMA Planet
Ares Wizard has some great builds. However, when it comes to addons, the Ares Wizard collection is a bit weak. They do host some good wrestling addons, though.MMA Planet used to be called UFC Finest. Even though it now has a different name, it still has tons of old and new UFC content, a well-organized menu, high def streams, plus content from other little-known MMA leagues.
Wrestling on Demand
Wrestling on Demand has reliable live streams of the WWE Network, plus a huge archive of nearly every major WWE event ever broadcast.

Working repo #2: Noobs and Nerds
The Noobs and Nerds team made a name for themselves when they breathed new life into a popular standalone addon called SportsDevil.The standalone version of SportsDevil was very buggy before Noobs and Nerds took it over because when SportsDevil first came out, it didn’t have an official repository. As a result, many Kodi users ran into issues and errors when using it. The Noobs and Nerds version of SportsDevil cleared up most of those problems.
Noobs and Nerds is small compared to other repositories. However, but we think that there’s a chance that Noobs and Nerds will possibly become bigger and more important in the near future.
SportsDevil
As mentioned above, the SportsDevil addon is available via Noobs and Nerds. SportsDevil isn’t perfect by any means. You’ll run into lots of dead links if you use this addon. However, it does contain some working links as well, and is one of the most popular options for streaming sports via Kodi.

Metalliq
Another important addon that you can find in the Noobs and Nerds repo is Metalliq. Metalliq is kind of like an addon for addons. When you click a movie or TV show in Metalliq, it’ll look through all your addons to see if it can find whatever it is you want. Metalliq works great with Exodus, Specto, Bob Unrestricted and other video addons.

Bob Unrestricted
After Exodus went down with TVAddons, many former Exodus fans switched over to Bob Unrestricted. Bob Unrestricted offers up a large library of full season TV shows as well as music videos and full-length HD movies.Bob is new compared to Exodus and Specto. So, hopefully it will continue to get better as time goes on.

Working repo #3: SuperRepo
SuperRepo is a huge collection of weird and little-known addons. Super Repo is a massive repository, but unfortunately a large percentage of SuperRepo’s addons are broken. Still, there are a few important addons that have a home on SuperRepo. And now that TVAddons is gone, more developers may eventually decide to host their addons there.SuperRepo has so many addons that the administrators of SuperRepo had to divide their catalogue into several different sub-repositories. That’s why you have to install the specific addon sub-category that you want to look at after you install the main repo.
DramaGo
A few hidden gems can found in SuperRepo’s video addons sub-repo. Dknight’s DramaGo, for example, is probably the best addon for Asian drama out there right now.
Many of the addons you’ll find in SuperRepo were crafted by solitary developers that were either unwilling or unable to launch a website to promote their Kodi project. As a result, SuperRepo contains a lot of specialized addons built to appeal to niche groups of Kodi users.

Working repo #4: Mucky Duck
Rumor has it that an important addon may soon becoming to Mucky Duck: iStream. Before the XunityTalk repository went down, iStream was one of the best video addons out there.According to KodiTips, iStream is already in the Mucky Duck repository.
But when we checked Mucky Duck to verify, we weren’t able to find iStream.
However, it does indeed seem like Mucky Duck may be in the process of joining forces with XunityTalk.

Most of Mucky Duck’s addons are broken
There aren’t many interesting addons in the Mucky Duck repository right now. Gorilla Streams and Moviepool, Pubfilm and LuckyTV all have flashy logos and artwork, but they don’t seem to work at all.Still, this repository is worth installing. If Mucky Duck does indeed pickup iStream, the Mucky Duck repo could become relevant. Also, Mucky Duck’s Twitter feed seems to indicate that he’s working on several new Kodi addons.

Working repository #5: Kodil (Kodi Israel Group)
The Kodil repository hasn’t been updated since 2015. However, it contains a ton of popular addons that can’t be found anywhere else. It has an old but working version of Exodus. It also has the very best sports addon around– Pro Sport.

Dead Kodi repositories
The repositories listed here no longer work. If you see references to any of these repositories while looking for information about addons online, you may as well stop reading and try to Google a more up-to-date guide.Dead Kodi repo #1: Fusion (aka TVAddons)
Before it shut down abruptly in the first week of June 2017, the TVAddons repository had one of the largest collections of 3rd party Kodi addons.Delete these TVAddons/Fusion addons if you still have them
The TVAddons/Fusion repository was connected to an addon installer called Indigo. If you have Indigo on your system, you may want to delete it. If you keep Indigo on your system, you’ll run into errors every time you use Kodi.
“In light of current events we have decided to close down Phoenix,” – Phoenix developer CosmixYou can still use Phoenix if you can find the standalone version, but we recommend that you just remove it and get a better, more up-to-date video addon like Specto or Bob.
Dead Kodi repo #2: Echo (aka Orion) Repository
Several months ago, the developer known as Echo Coder took over the Kodi repository known as the TBD Repo. He rebranded TBD Repo with a new name and started pushing out some excellent Kodi software.For example, Echo Coding was behind the popular but now defunct cable TV guide emulator called Echo TV guide and the Echo Wizard addon installer. Echo Coding produced some good quality builds as well.
For now, all the social media accounts connect to Orion/Echo Coding now seem to have disappeared.
Dead repo #3: Torrent Streaming Repo
The Torrent Streaming Repo used to rely on Offshoregit for hosting. But now that Offshoregit is gone, this home for torrent addons is no more.Here is what the Torrent Streaming Repo used to look like:
Dead repo #4: XunityTalk Repository
In addition to TVAddons, Echo and TSR, the XunityTalk repository also seems to have been pulled offline.
However, as mentioned above some believe that the Xunitytalk team may be planning to make a comeback.
According to a recent article from KodiTips, XunityTalk’s most important addon– a video addon called iStream– is now available via the Mucky Duck repository. But when we checked Mucky Duck to see if iStream was indeed there, we didn’t see it.
